I am bored out of my skull today at work. There are 18,000 students back in classes today and they all will be sleeping in tomorrow due to the fact that it is Anzac Day. Most of the people that I work with, took today off and we are operating with a skeleton crew. There is absolutely nothing going on today. In fact, my mates and I were given a brand new IMac to test applications with on the network and we usually just use it as a glorified jukebox, today it is quiet due to the fact that one of our Ex-pat Russian colleagues is tormenting us with some elevator music. Someone else, formally from the former Soviet Union advised us that this kind of music is the sort that the government would play every morning while all their comrades would perform their compulsory callisthenics. For the most part is it mind-numbing music and I am sure it was the key to the fall of the once great Soviet Empire. Roll on 5:30P!!!!!!I am however, really looking forward to this weekend...my fellow workmates have all decided to take me to my first rugby match at the Westpac Stadium this weekend. This is the same bunch that helped me to experience the best St. Paddy's day I have ever had! It is the mighty Wellington Hurricanes vs. the the bell-ringing, cow breeders from the north, known as the Waikato Chiefs. I am really looking forward to it, some outlandish 'male-bonding'. I was advised that would entail some traditional first game rituals such as The 'yard-glass' skull, the harbour dive, the ritual head shave after the traditional 4 pint Guinness and Oyster block run around the Black Harp, an Irish pub just down the street from the stadium. Sounds like it will be fun and I probably will be doing a bit of feeding the fish....I hate oysters. I will update you all with the details once I have recovered. I am just starting to get the hang of Rugby, much different from the old sport of Gridiron. So I am sure I will be sorted out on all of the rules and how blind the referees are to what the real rules should be this weekend. Other than that, this post has temporarily quelled the boredom. I hope it has for you as well.
Until next time,
The Reverend.
